2026 Bills Impacting Health Care Professions

Legislation passed during the 2026 Legislative Session, which affects Florida’s health care professions, is below.

SB 192: Patient Funds Held in Trust by Chiropractic Physicians

Effective Date: July 1, 2026
SB 192 (Bill Information)

Summary:

The legislation removes the cap on the amount of patient funds chiropractic physicians are permitted to hold in trust for specific purposes, eliminating the $1,500 limit on patient funds that may be held in a trust account by a chiropractic physician. However, it maintains requirements that all entrusted funds be used solely for the specific purpose intended and that disputed funds not be withdrawn until the dispute is resolved. It also clarifies that patient funds must be kept in a separate account and promptly delivered upon request.
